Jersey hope the Muratti will no longer be their biggest match
Jersey Football Association is to host a small nations tournament as it tries be recognised by Fifa as an international side.
JFA president Ricky Weir would not say which sides have been invited but is optimistic it will help Jersey's cause.
"We'd be looking to attract attention from the likes of Fifa to say look, you've asked us to put something on, we've now done it," he told BBC Jersey.
The event is set to take place in the island later this year.
Weir and his JFA colleagues have been pushing to try to get a higher standard football for the island side.
Weir says he hoped the tournament will persuade Fifa to do something to help the island side get more games.
The tournament announcement comes on the same day that the JFA have announced that they will host the reserve side from Premier League club Sunderland at Springfield on Monday 13 October.
Former Sunderland chairman Bob Murray lives in the island and has been involved in local football, sponsoring his local club St Brelade's junior teams.
