Vale Rec have become the first club to reject the GFA's deal

Vale Rec have rejected plans from the Guernsey Football Association to abolish the Youth One league in favour of a division for 16 to 23-year-olds.

The club, who have won the Guernsey title 15 times, unanimously rejected the plans on Thursday night.

The GFA's chairman Dave Nussbaumer resigned earlier this week after clubs raised concerns over the GFA's plans.

Clubs met with the GFA on Monday night to try and thrash out a compromise deal over a league for young players.

It is part of a complete revamp of the island's football league which is due to be voted on at the GFA's AGM in a fortnight.

The plans include abolishing the current system of the Priaulx, Jackson and Railway Leagues and having one league with multiple divisions.

The Railway League would be merged with the Business and Sunday Leagues with players only being allowed to play for one team.
