O'Brien has been playing with a fractured finger recently |
Wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien is free to play for Northants again after his disciplinary was dealt with, says chief executive Mark Tagg. The 28-year-old was suspended and lost the vice-captaincy after arriving late for the Twenty20 fixture at Leicestershire on Friday, 18 June. The Irishman attended a hearing with club officials on Thursday. Tagg told BBC Radio Northampton: "The matter was settled and Niall will be available for selection." O'Brien, who has scored 95 runs in five Twenty20 appearances this season, is expected to feature for Northants in Friday's clash at Worcestershire. "It's time to move forward, time to look forward to what is still going to be an incredibly exciting competition," Tagg added. "If we can win both Friday's game and the home game with Durham on Saturday, then I think that puts us back into contention for a place in the quarter-finals." After a shaky start to the competition, losing their first three games, Northants have climbed to seventh in the North Group.
