Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens has signed a one-year extension to his current contract, which will keep him at the club until 2012. The 34-year-old represented the England Lions last summer and was Kent's player of the year. "I am very much looking forward to playing for the club over the next two seasons," said Stevens. "I have enjoyed my time in Kent and wanted to show my commitment by signing this new extended deal." Kent coach Paul Farbrace said: "We are all delighted that Darren has chosen to extend his deal for the next two seasons as he is a high quality player. "He did very well last season and was justifiably named Kent player of the year. He is a key player - both on and off the field." Last season Stevens hit four first-class centuries for Kent, averaging 44.52 as well as claiming 27 wickets. Leicester-born Stevens left his home county for Kent at the end of the 2004 season.
