James Tredwell still in England frame, says selector
James Tredwell was over in the Caribbean as cover for Graeme Swann
Kent spinner James Tredwell remains part of England's plans despite being omitted from the one-day squad, insists national selector Geoff Miller.
Tredwell, 28, went to the ICC World Twenty20 but did not get to play.
And he has since been overlooked for the forthcoming one-day internationals against Scotland and Australia.
But Miller told BBC Radio Kent: "It'll be difficult for him to break into the side but he's showed his potential. "He's proved how good a player he is.
Miller added: He'll just have to keep working on his game and, if he gets the opportunity, then push for a consistent selection.
"We're trying to create as big a squad as possible and cover all eventualities and James is a very big area for us there, so we'll have to manage it as the series goes on."
Miller admits that Tredwell's current position mirrors that of his own playing days in the late 70s and early 80s - when he was up against Peter Willey for a place as England's off spinner.
"There is a similarity but the intensity of one-day cricket is far more now and is much more difficult than when we played.
"He has worked hard on his game - and yes I see a similarity there but the game's developed so much just through it's natural courses.
"He's had to create new methods of bowling. Batting-wise, I was perhaps a little bit better but he is a good catcher and a good fielder so there are similarities.
"In the modern game, he'll probably get better results than I would have done and he's probably a better player."
