Ireland beat Scotland by six wickets in the World League Division One final in Amstelveen on Saturday. After being put in to bat, Scotland were all out for 232 after 48.5 overs, with Fraser Watts scoring 98 and Preston Mommsen 80. Kevin O'Brien, Trent Johnston, George Dockrell and Nigel Jones each took two wickets for Ireland. Ireland made 233-4 off 44.5 overs in reply, Kevin O'Brien top-scoring with 98 and Andrew White contributing 79. Opening batsman Paul Stirling was next best with a score of 32. The Irish won the toss and decided to field first, having come into the game with a 100 per cent record of five wins from five matches in the competition. Watts and Mommsen put on an opening partnership of 141 before Mommsen was dismissed in the 31st over, and the wickets then started falling regularly as Scotland capitulated. Jones ended with bowling figures of 2-20, Johnston took 2-21, Dockrell 2-42, O'Brien 2-46 and Alex Cusack 1-53. O'Brien and White put on a crucial partnership of 162 for the fourth Irish wicket, O'Brien scoring his 98 off 104 balls and White hitting 79 off 87 balls. Gordon Gaudie, Richie Berrington and Gordon Drummond took a wicket apiece for the Scots. Ireland also won last year's competition which doubled as the qualifier for the 2011 ICC World Cup.
