Simon Jones is eager to face the West Indies again |
Fast bowler Simon Jones has recovered from a foot injury and is targeting a return to the England Test side. However, the Glamorgan paceman admits he is short of match practice as he bids to regain his bowling rhythm.
Jones plays for the MCC against the West Indies at Arundel on Wednesday and hopes to force his way back for the Test series against the tourists.
"It will be good to get some more overs under my belt and to face the West Indies again," Jones said.
Jones was part of the victorious England team in April that claimed a first series win in the Caribbean for 36 years.
But after playing in May's first Test on home soil against New Zealand, an injury to his left foot ruled Jones out of the remainder of the series.
Since his comeback, he has managed just five overs for Glamorgan's second team and 10 overs for the Welsh county against Sri Lanka A that cost 67 runs.
"I've got a lot more bowling to do before I get back to where I was before the injury," Jones admitted.

"As a bowler I need rhythm, so the more overs I bowl in the next couple of weeks the better it will be for me."
But having spent 16 months recuperating from a career-threatening knee injury, Jones has taken his latest three-week injury break in his stride - albeit with some frustration.
"It's come as a bit of a kick in the teeth as I've worked hard to get back from the knee and then this came along," Jones said.
"But I've played 10 months on the bounce so obviously it was going to catch up with me somehow, and it came on my foot."
Jones should line up at Arundel alongside other England players including Mark Butcher, Graham Thorpe and Matthew Hoggard, who are all expected to get a run-out ahead of the first Test on 22 July at Lord's.
