Michael Powell has impressed the England selectors this season |
Glamorgan pair Michael Powell and Alex Wharf are in line for a place in England 30-man shortlist for the ICC Champions Trophy in September. England will name the group on Monday and trim it to 14 by 10 August.
Batsman Powell was part of the squad for the recent NatWest Series, but did not play in any of the matches.
And after England's poor form against New Zealand and West Indies, former England captain Alec Stewart said all-rounder Wharf should be selected.
The pair's selection would appease those who have criticised England's apparent reluctance to pick Glamorgan players, despite the county's excellent recent limited overs form.
Glamorgan are currently eight points clear at the top of Totesport Division One, a competition they won in 2002.
Powell, 27, has scored 263 runs in limited overs matches this season at an average of just over 37, while Wharf, 29, has scored 143 runs and is Glamorgan's second-highest wicket taker with 13 in six matches.
