Stubbo's a brilliant lad and has been a great servant for the club but we have to move on
John Morris
Derbyshire have told batsmen Steve Stubbings, Dan Birch and Dom Telo they will not be given new deals next season and are free to talk to other clubs.
Birch, 28, and Telo, 23, have not played a first-class match this season while Stubbings, 31, is in his 13th season but was recently dropped.
Head of cricket John Morris told BBC Radio Derby: "It will help them plan what they want to do in the future.
"And it will make space available in our seconds for some younger players."
But Morris said telling the players of the decision on Monday had been tough.
"It's always difficult making decisions on lives and careers but you have to make them," he explained. "It was not a good day for me having to tell them; it's part of the job but it's never easy.
"I would like to thank them for their efforts and contributions, especially Stubbo who's been a major contributor over 13 years.
"He's a brilliant lad and has been a great servant for the club but we have to move on."
