West Oxfordshire cricket club Shipton-under-Wychwood face Rowledge on Sunday for a place in the Village Knockout Cup final at Lord's. Shipton have enjoyed considerable success in the competition over the last decade, winning the tournament in both 2002 and 2003. Club secretary Justin Hemming told BBC Oxford: "We are all expecting the game to be a tough one. "This is against a side we played in the semi-finals in 2002." Shipton will look to build upon their convincing win against Cornish side Troon in the quarter-finals and earn themselves a place in the Lord's final on Sunday, 12 September. The competition is seen by most to be the pinnacle of amateur cricket in England. "There is a lot of nervous excitement around the club in the build-up to this game," added Hemming. "We are confident that if we can bat in the same way we have throughout the tournament we will be successful." Shipton have posted batting totals in excess of 260 in each of their last three matches in the competition, with batsman Andy Hemming hitting over 500 runs for the Oxfordshire side. BBC Oxford will have a reporter at the game on Sunday and regular updates will accompany the sports news throughout the afternoon.
