Guernsey celebrate beating Norway in the ICC European Division Two |
Guernsey will be fighting for a World Twenty20 place after winning their first international tournament - the ICC European Division Two Championship. Richard Holdsworth, ICC regional development manager for Europe, told BBC Guernsey the island's cricketers had made a great case for themselves. He said: "Next year we'll be bringing in a Twenty20 structure within Europe in which Guernsey will play a big part. "There'll be two divisions, and Guernsey will be in division one." The winners of division one will then go into the World Twenty20 qualifiers. Holdsworth added that the island's inclusion in the top division was based on their recent performance in the ICC European Division Two Championship. Guernsey defeated all their opponents on their way to winning the competition, which included France, Germany, Gibraltar, Norway and Israel.
