Guernsey target first ICC tournament win

Guernsey captain Stuart Le Provost is targeting success in the 2010 ICC European Division Two Championship.

Having finished second in their last two tournaments, the island side host France, Gibraltar, Germany, Israel and Norway in this year's event.

Le Prevost said: "We've done fairly well in the last two but we're really looking to win a tournament."

Guernsey were runners up in the World Cricket League Division Seven in 2009 and in European Division Two in 2008.

Le Prevost added: "We go into all these tournaments prepared to win every game if we can, it's the third tournament we've hosted in Guernsey. We've come second in a couple so now is the time to win.

"We've had the same sort of group of guys for a fair while now, it obviously depends a lot on form at the time on who we pick and things like that, but generally the side is the same.

"We've got two or three new faces this week in Andrew Hutchinson, Dave Hooper, so those two guys have got their chance."

Guernsey face Gibraltar in their first match, a side they met in both the previous tournaments.

Le Prevost said: "We've played them twice and beaten them twice. They're not a bad side so they're one to watch out for.

"They'll be looking for a bit of revenge against us so we've got to be at our best."
