Herefordshire break record in 256-run win over Herts
Steve Adshead made 131 and shared in a record second-wicket stand of 207
Herefordshire set a county-record score of 395-4 in 50 overs as they beat Hertfordshire by 256 runs at Colwall.
Steve Adshead led the way in their MCCA Trophy tie, hitting 131 and sharing a Herefordshire record second-wicket stand of 207 with Craig Wood.
Herefordshire chairman of selectors Gwynne Jones told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "I don't think Hertfordshire came to get a drubbing.
"But for a side that has qualified they didn't look terribly good."
Wood made 117 while he and ex-Gloucestershire wicketkeeper Adshead were well supported by skipper Chris Boroughs, whose unbeaten 60 came from only 28 balls.
Herefordshire's total of 395-7 was the third-highest in the history of the competition and broke the previous county record by 67 runs.

Luke Sellers then took 4-37 as Hertfordshire were bowled out for only 139 in reply.
Jones said the second-wicket stand had been an interesting contrast in batting styles.
"They are two different styles of players in that Craig Wood is the more correct batsman and plays his shots," he said.
"Steve Adshead does tend to play shots that you don't necessarily see in the coaching manuals. But both innings were marvellous in their own way."
Herefordshire went into the game knowing they could not qualify for the knockout stages of the MCCA Trophy but were clearly determined to make their mark on this season's competition.
And Jones hopes they can replicate their performance in the three-day game when their Minor Counties Championship campaign opens next month.
"It would be nice to think that we could do that except that the two bowlers who did most of the damage against Hertfordshire - Luke Sellers and Freddie Eburah - are prevented from playing due to their jobs," he added.
"Luke probably won't play again at all now while Freddie will only come in when the school holidays start in mid-July.
"Craig Wood has a similar problem as he is a trainee teacher, we will lose him for a little while as well so that presents a problem for us."
Herefordshire will open their Minor Counties Championship season with a three-day game against Wales Minor Counties at Usk, starting on Sunday 6 June.
