Herefordshire need to be on top form to beat Cheshire |
Herefordshire County Cricket Club's captain Chris Boroughs says their inability to field a settled team has led to a frustrating season. Boroughs told BBC Hereford and Worcester injuries and work commitments have often led to last-minute changes. "Every week we've had a side on a Monday morning which has looked really competitive," said Boroughs. "Then on a Wednesday or Thursday we're struggling a little bit again," the batsman added. Herefordshire went into the final day of their match against Cheshire needing a further 298 runs to win with all 10 second-innings wickets standing. Cheshire set them 324 for victory and Herefordshire's openers survived a tricky seven-over spell at the end of Monday's second day to finish on 26 without loss. Heavy rain on the third morning at Eastnor meant there was no play before lunch and, with there being little sign of any improvement in the conditions, the umpires formally abandoned the match as a draw early in the afternoon.
