Herefordshire earn draw in Dorset
Herefordshire County Cricket Club picked up a draw in their Minor Counties Championship match in Dorset.

Rain ruined any hopes of a positive outcome, even when the match was reduced to a single innings game after the first two days were washed out.

Batting first, Dorset made 200-7 in their allotted overs.

But further showers meant that Herefordshire were always going to be playing for the draw, and they closed on 62-2.

Herefordshire's captain Chris Burroughs felt that going into the third day his side were in with a good chance of winning the game.

"It came down to a one innings game which gave us a chance of winning," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"For once, I actually won the toss and I think that put us in a better position than them to win the game, but the way that it works is the team batting first has 60 percent of the overs.

"So, if we would have had a full day, they would have had 61 overs, and we would have had 41 back.

"Hopefully we would have bowled them had we have played the full day."

Herefordshire will return to Minor Counties Cricket Championship action on Sunday 8 July when they will take on Devon at Colwall.

BBC Hereford and Worcester will carry half-hourly updates on their progress in that match throughout the three days.
