New look for Guernsey weekend cricket league

The oldest weekend cricket competition in Guernsey has been given a new look for this season.

The Wave Telecom GCA Championship started in 1978, and was originally known as the Afternoon League One.

For the first time players will wear coloured strips and play with a white ball.

Mark Latter, chief executive of the Guernsey Cricket Board, said: "2010 is going to be an exciting season as the sport continues to grow."

This year it will be contested by Argyll Investments, Cobo Tigers, Elizabeth College, Odey ORs and PKF Wanderers.
