Hague's return followed his retirement last October |
Former Jersey captain Matt Hague made a spectacular return to the Natwest Weekend Premier League on Saturday. After retiring last October following the World Cricket League in Tanzania, Hague was back to his brilliant best. Hague scored 175 as he produced a dominant display for Optimus in their weekend league clash with current leaders St Ouen. Opening partner and current island captain Ryan Driver chipped in with 41 as Optimus amassed 277-3. In reply, St Ouen could only manage 217-9, with Dean Morrison continuing his fine form with the bat as he made 132. Driver was the best of the Optimus bowlers claiming 2-26 from his nine overs. Despite the loss St Ouen stay top of the table on 183 points while last year's champions Optimus are now only seven points behind. Meanwhile Rathbones OV's are 12 points off top-spot in third but they have a game in hand.
