Bernstein will compete in all three fencing events |
A junior fencing champion from Jersey is to represent Great Britain at an international sporting event in Israel. Seventeen-year-old Jonathan Bernstein will compete in the Maccabiah Games. The Games, often referred to as the Jewish Olympics, start on 12 July and Bernstein is one of three fencers chosen to compete for Team GB. Jersey's under-18 master of arms said: "It's a huge privilege as Jersey has a small Jewish community. It's going to be quite hard." He added: "There's going to be past Olympic and world champions there." The Victoria College Pupil will represent Team GB in all three disciplines at the Maccabiah Games - the epee, foil and sabre.
