Yorkshire Premier League champions York beat Castleford by 160 runs at Savile Park but there was a tense end to the match due to two rain interruptions. York piled up 270-8, Dan Wilson making 95, Simon Mason 43 and Ashley Hulme 36. Castleford collapsed to 92-9, but, the two rain breaks included, their last pair held on for 19 overs to deny York maximum points, Had the game been lost to the weather, both sides would have taken three points for a no-result. York, three times winner of the YPL title in five years, needed only one more wicket for the full eight points. Spinner Daniel Woods, who sent down eight maidens in taking 2-2 in 10 overs, told BBC York: "Bowling figures don't really count for much when we don't bowl them out. "I wanted to take the last wicket, but it was difficult bowling with a wet ball. It wasn't spinning massively and they were just playing defensive shots." "It was a bit of a worry at one stage whether we were going to finish the game. "But six points for us and no points for them is obviously a successful day for us." Scarborough followed up their big win over York on Saturday with a win at Cleethorpes by 61 runs, despite the absence of Yorkshire's Adam Lyth. Scarborough made 210-5 with half-centuries for Kunwar Bansil and Darren Harland. Cleethorpes were then dismissed for 149. Harrogate made only 99 at Sheffield Collegiate, who replied with 101-4, to win by six wickets.
