Carlyon says the heat in Tanzania is tough to get used to |
The Dewhurst brothers will miss out when Jersey face hosts Tanzania in the first match of the World Cricket League Division Four campaign on Saturday. Sam Dewhurst is 12th man, while brother Andrew and reserve keeper Matt Hanley have not made the squad. Opener Steve Carlyon said the whole squad are in good spirits but the heat has been difficult to get used to. "When there's a breeze it's hot and when there's no breeze, it's extremely hot," he said on BBC Radio Jersey. He also said the result in their eight-run defeat to Tanzania in their final practice match was unimportant because the idea was to give everyone a knock. The opening ceremony for the competition is on Friday afternoon, with all six teams playing the first of five matches on Saturday morning.
Jersey team: Matt Hague (captain), Tony Carlyon, Steve Carlyon, Bobby Minty, Tom Minty, Jon Gough, Peter Gough, Ryan Driver, Meeku Patidar, Anthony Kay, Ben Stevens.
