Jersey suffer their first defeat

Tuia got Jersey's only try late on with a 40-yard run

Jersey Rugby club lost their first match of the season in London One, going down to Barnes 27-11 on Saturday.

The island side were 8-3 down by half-time having opened the scoring with a Mitch Burton penalty.

Straight after the interval Jersey reduced the lead to 8-6, with another Burton penalty but then the wheels came off for the island side.

Barnes hit three tries to race into a 27-6 lead. Sam Tuia scored from a 40 yard run late on for Jersey.

The defeat leaves Jersey in fourth place in London One, with Barnes jumping a place above the island side into third position.
