Jeremy Frith takes the second of his four catches in the win over Gibraltar |
Hosts Guernsey beat Gibraltar by seven wickets on the first day of the ICC European Division Two Championship. Guernsey won the toss and elected to field, with bowlers Lee Savident and Blane Queripel running through the Gibraltar side for just 87. Tim Ravenscroft and GH Smit guided the Guernsey team to 90-3 in 15.4 overs. Guernsey Captain Stuart Le Prevost told BBC Guernsey: "We put in a really professional performance today and I'm really pleased." He added: "The guys bowled really well early on. We had them reeling at 10-4, and from that it's really hard to come back. "Jeremy Frith took four catches - two really good ones and then two simpler catches - but four catches is pretty impressive whatever."
