IBF Intercontinental super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur admits his return to action cannot come soon enough. The 26-year-old faces Eric Odumasa at the Royal Highland Centre on 22 October in only his second bout of the year.
Arthur lost his British title to Michael Gomez last October and has fought once since, defeating Michael Kizza at Meadowbank in March.
"It's going to be great to get back into the ring," said Arthur.
"It's been very frustrating. At one point in my career I had nine fights in a season and at one stage I fought three weeks apart.
"So going from a busy fighter to not a busy fighter has been boring more than anything else.
"If everything goes to plan, then we hope to get back again in December and then get back fighting every couple of months or so."
The fight is on the undercard of Joe Calzaghe's WBO super-middleweight title defence against Kabary Salem but Arthur says he is happy to support the Welshman in Edinburgh.
"I've fought on the undercard to Joe on three or four occasions and, in my opinion, he's the best fighter that Britain has had in the past 15 to 20 years," said Arthur.
"To fight on the undercard to him again is brilliant. He's going to become a legend and it's just an honour for me, and for him to be here in Edinburgh is fantastic.
"The people here are going to get the chance to see, in my opinion, Britain's best fighter live in action."
