Age 26, Javelin Goldie Sayers, from Newmarket, is Britain's great hope in the throwing events and after a new UK record of 65.75m in the Olympic final in Beijing there is more to come from her. Backley says: "We can be inspired by her fourth and GB record in Beijing - although missing out on her medal will have been a kick in the teeth. It will be interesting to see how she reacts. "The opposition could affect how she progresses. Kelly Holmes was on the verge of big things and then in 2004 it all fell into her lap. "Being fourth on the world level over the next five years is clearly a good thing. If she doesn't have injuries, Goldie could find herself on the podium three times in the next four years. She is good enough." The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites |
