He failed to make the 5,000m Olympic final but the versatile Farah is in hot form and will look to build on his sixth place in the 5,000m at the 2007 World Championships.

Merry says: "He had a bad Olympics but he's started the season by breaking that long-standing 3,000m record in Glasgow.

"His radical training changes, with time spent in Kenya, have paid off. It could be a huge year. He just lives and breathes running and needs to make that big step up."

Campbell says: "One of the secrets of success is looking at yourself and being totally honest. He's on top form and now needs to get on the big stage and believe he belongs with the best.

"When you're in the top 10 anybody can beat anybody. It's good he's worked on his errors and hopefully he can build on this."
