Age 20, 400m hurdles Londoner Shakes Drayton put in a devastating showing at last year's Olympic trials, only to be pipped by Tasha Danvers for selection but will have benefitted from being in Beijing on programme to give an Olympic experience to 2012 hopefuls. Katharine Merry says: "She improves every time she runs. Her 7.44 seconds in 60m is good for a sprinter, let alone a 400m hurdler. If she carries on getting her speed up it could be a great year. She's got 2012 written all over her being born and bred in Mile End." Campbell says: "She's making the transition from junior to senior and the world is her oyster. She's lost a few times but you never learn anything in victory. She needs patience. "After Tasha Danvers went to Beijing instead I hope they inspire each other on. After beating her last year Perri needs to think, She's never beating me again." The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites |
