Lawrence Dallaglio is tended as he lies in agony after breaking his ankle against Bay of Plenty
Having guided his club to domestic glory, Dallaglio headed to New Zealand as part of Woodward's 2005 Lions party, but his tour came to a premature end when he fractured his ankle in the first tour match, against Bay of Plenty.

After he had fought his way back to fitness Dallaglio decided to once again make himself available for England duty, and after a period of intense media speculation, England coach Andy Robinson picked Dallaglio for the 2006 Six Nations.

Robinson used him as an impact substitute from the bench but his recall proved controversial, with many feeling his presence undermined the captaincy of Martin Corry.
