Although he had already won international honours at Under-19 and 21 level, the first time most rugby fans saw Dallaglio in an England shirt was in the inaugural Sevens World Cup in 1993. Alongside the likes of Andrew Harriman, Matt Dawson and Tim Rodber, a 21-year-old Dallaglio showed his immense promise as an unheralded England side swept through the tournament and beat Australia in the final.
