The big change in the GB squad this year has been the shift from 30-somethings like me to 20-somethings, although it's easy to forget how young some of the riders are. People will be disappointed if the squad don't win nine golds, as they did in Manchester last year, but this year is more about development. My former pursuit team-mate Ed Clancy is one of the most accomplished and - barring 35-year-old Chris Newton - one of the oldest riders in the squad but he is still only 24. Ed is a strong fixture to lead the pursuit team again with 21-year-old Steven Burke - who has dabbled in the event in the past and took individual bronze in Beijing - also integral.
