Ed Clancy, 23, from Barnsley Clancy already has multiple titles on his CV as double world champion and Olympic gold medallist in team pursuit. He is riding the individual pursuit as well as the team pursuit at the World Cup, and is clearly happiest when on his bike. "After the Olympics I spent four or five days off the bike, and I was bored. So I've been itching for a bit of competition again," he says. "Life's got no meaning for me if I'm not riding my bike and I just can't wait to start ripping it up again!" Off the track, Clancy is a strong candidate to join the new Halfords Bikehut men's road team, which will form the basis of the project to build a British team for the Tour de France in 2010.
