Ross Edgar, 25, from Newmarket Edgar was part of a Scottish one-two in Beijing, when he finished behind Chris Hoy in the keirin at his second Olympic Games. The silver was consolation after he failed to take a medal in an individual event at the 2008 world track championships, and was dropped from the gold medal-winning sprint team for the Olympics despite helping them to silver at the worlds. "For him to pick up a silver in this, not being a member of our team sprint, it's a sign of the times of how strong this Great Britain team is," said Hoy. Edgar will not race the conventional keirin event in Manchester but will take part in the Japanese invitational races, as well as the sprint and team sprint.
