Girl power Britain also has some very promising female players. Thousands are taking up the sport across the UK, and Emma Vickers is a shining example of what the country can offer. The 16-year-old from Derby was GB school champion in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and is England's top junior girl. England's top cadet Karina Lefevre is also in action. Competition is intense in the female game and although Vickers fails to win any of her nine matches, there is great hope for her continued development.
