South Africa's Ernie Els was the last international winner in 2002 but players from outside Europe or America have played a huge part in the Open. Other names to watch are Canadian Mike Weir, Fiji's Vijay Singh, South Africa's Retief Goosen and young Argentine Andres Romero. Weir was tied eighth last year and ninth in 2004, while 45-year-old veteran Singh has had two top 10s since 2000. Goosen has had three top 10s since 2002 and cannot be discounted, while Romero led with two holes to play at Carnoustie last year before ending double-bogey, bogey to miss the play-off by one shot.
