O'Connor Jnr and Eamonn Darcy made their debuts in 1975 when Great Britain & Ireland lost 21-11 but their glory was yet to come.

"America had some really big stars and the motivation was just to try and beat one of those guys," said Darcy.

"But we didn't have the depth in the singles and they used to kill us every time."
