Northern Ireland's Ronan Rafferty (far left) was also a winner in 1989, beating Mark Calcavecchia in the singles. And fellow countryman David Feherty (centre) appeared at Kiawah Island in 1991, conjuring up a 2&1 victory against Payne Stewart.
But it was Dubliner Phillip Walton (right) who took advantage of his moment in the spotlight in 1995.
The unassuming Walton beat Jay Haas on the final green, and was engulfed by skipper Bernard Gallacher, as he secured a 14-13 win for Europe at Oak Hill.
