Lance Armstrong's first major achievement in cycling saw him win the world road race championship in 1993. But it was only when he recovered from testicular cancer and resumed his racing career in 1998 that he began to dominate his sport, with the first of seven straight Tour de France wins following in 1999. Since his retirement in 2005 he has taken part in marathons and mountain-bike races but spent the majority of his time running the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a charity dedicated to combating cancer. Now he is back, aiming to win the famous yellow jersey again in Le Tour in 2009. The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites |
