Aberdeen midfielder and captain Mark Kerr has joined Greek First Division side Asteras Tripolis.

The 28-year-old's contract at Pittodrie finished at the end of last season and he will now ply his trade abroad for the first time.

"I am very pleased to continue my career in Greece and look forward to playing for Asteras," he said.

Kerr joined Aberdeen from Dundee United in July 2008 and was made their skipper at the start of the 2009/10 campaign.

The Scot made 68 appearances in all for the Dons, managing only one goal.

No financial terms of Kerr's move have been revealed by the Tripoli-based club, who avoided relegation by two points when finishing 12th in Greece's top tier last season.
