Kerr to lead Aberdeen this term

Aberdeen midfielder Mark Kerr

Mark Kerr will skipper Aberdeen this season, beating off competition from Gary McDonald and Zander Diamond.

The 27-year-old midfielder takes the armband on from Scott Severin, who left the Dons for Watford.

Kerr began his career at Falkirk and spent five years at Dundee United before his move to Pittodrie last year.

Meanwhile, Rohan Ricketts, Craig Rocastle, Mazim Ahmed and Idrissa Alassane have all left the Dons after trial periods.

In May, Kerr issued an apology to fans for his part in a street altercation on a night out that led to him being charged.

The player required hospital treatment after the incident in Aberdeen city centre and missed the final match of last season as a result.
