 | STADIUM FACTS Location: Bizerte Capacity: 20,000 Club: Club Sportive Bizertin |
The stadium was closed in early 2003 for a facelift, forcing Club Sportive Bizertin to look elsewhere for home games.
Capacity at the stadium has been increased by 5,000 to 20,000 for the African Cup of Nations.
The stadium and the city of Bizerte will be hoping to make the most of being selected as one of the venues after missing out on the 1994 competition.
Club Sportive Bizertin were the first Tunisian side to win an African club trophy in 1988, lifting the Cup Winners' Cup.
Away from the stadium
The port of Bizerte lies 65km (40 miles) north of Tunis, on the northern coast of Tunisia.
Even though Bizerte is located near a number of beaches and has a dearth of historical sites, its tourist industry is not as lucrative as that found in Sousse and Monastir.
Nevertheless, the vast kasbah, the Place Bouchoucha, the Great Mosque, the Youssef Dey fountain and the Spanish Fort will keep any sightseer busy.
