 | STADIUM FACTS Location: Monastir Capacity: 20,000 Club: US Monastir |
The Saleh Ben Jannet stadium is located in the tourist area of Monastir which is 160km (100 miles) away from Tunis.
The arena has been recently renovated for the African Cup of Nations, with the capacity increased to 20,000 and the pitch re-turfed.
An electronic scoreboard and new lighting has also been installed.
The completion of the stadium will be a relief to club side US Monastir who have been playing their home matches in neighbouring Sousse.
Away from the stadium
Monastir has a similar vibe to the Sousse resort.
It also mixes Tunisia's rich past with 21st century western culture, and was used as a location for the Monty Python film Life of Brian.
A stunning marina sits alongside the area's Ribat tower and ninth century walls which run along the Mediterranean coast.
A range of cafes, restaurants, hotels and shops can be found along the marina and beach.
Monastir is named after the Islamic monastery built in 797 to protect the area from invading forces.
It is now home to a collection of artefacts of Islamic heritage.
But it is the spectacular golden-domed Bourguiba Mosque, which is the most impressive landmark in Monastir.
