Second Test, Mohali: India v New Zealand
VVS Laxman salvaged a draw for India after New Zealand had threatened to pull off a famous win on the final day of the second Test at Mohali. The home side were in trouble at 18-3 after being forced to follow on as Daryl Tuffey sent back Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
The Kiwis could not dislodge Laxman, who followed his 104 not out in the first innings with an unbeaten 67.
India were 136-4 when the match came to an end, with the series ending 0-0.
It is the first time New Zealand have avoided defeat in the sub-continent since Graham Dowling's side shared a three-match series 1-1 in 1969.
India began play on 390-6 but suffered a double setback as Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh were run out within the first five overs.
Kumble was beaten by Tuffey's throw from mid-on and Harbhajan followed when Ian Butler deflected a Laxman drive onto the stumps at the bowler's end. Laxman reached three figures as they inched towards the follow-on target, only to fall seven runs short as Tuffey dismissed Lakshmipathy Balaji and Zaheer Khan with successive deliveries with the total on 424.
Seam bowler Tuffey continued to torment India as they began their second innings as Sehwag and captain Dravid were sent back to the pavilion courtesy of catches at first slip by Stephen Fleming.

And the home fans were fearing the worst when an in-swinger from Tuffey found a way through Sachin Tendulkar's defence to bowl him for one.
Chopra showed an excellent temperament, however, in only his second Test appearance, and with Laxman again looking in excellent touch, they added 110 for the fourth wicket.
Off-spinner Paul Wiseman eventually removed Chopra for 52, when he was caught by short leg Mark Richardson, but Yuvraj Singh (nine not out ) joined Laxman to play out time.
