In New York's Madison Square Garden on 8 November 2008, Calzaghe went after another American legend in Roy Jones Jr. Jones Jr was a former four-weight world champion and the first middleweight world champion since Britain's Bob Fitzsimmons to step up and win the world heavyweight crown. Once again, Calzaghe was dropped in the first round, and once again he showed remarkable powers of recovery to come storming back into the fight.
