  1. Another Saturday in the bookspublished at 17:29 BST 10 October

    League One & League Two

What a day that was... certainly blew the cobwebs away after the international break.

Stoppage-time winners, last-gasp penalties, red cards and goals galore... just another day in the glorious EFL, and it's left us with plenty of questions.

How much pressure can Russell Martin withstand at crisis club Leicester? How far can Robbie Savage take Peterborough? Is the League One promotion bunfight turning into one for the ages and just what on earth is going on in League Two?

Thanks for your company and messages today, we'll be back tomorrow for the small matter of the South Coast derby as Southampton host Portsmouth at high noon.

Don't miss it. Before that though, enjoy your Saturday evening!

    Goodbye!

  2. Pick of the statspublished at 17:28 BST 10 October

    League One

    • Oxford United have won three of their last four away league games, as many as in their previous 20. This is the first time they’ve won consecutive away league games since April 2024.
    • Since the start of the 2024-25 campaign, only Harrogate Town (25), Sheffield Wednesday (25) and Shrewsbury Town (25) have lost more home league games in England’s top four tiers than Leicester City (24).
    • Nahki Wells has scored five goals in eight league games for Luton Town this season, as many as he netted in 39 appearances last season.
    • In their 5-1 loss to Reading, MK Dons conceded 5+ goals in a home league game for the first time since January 2016 (0-5 v Burnley).
    • No team in England’s top four tiers have conceded more league goals than Bromley this season (20), who lost 2-1 at Mansfield Town today.

20 shots on goal, a dozen of them from within 12 yards, and Leicester scored just one goal.

Can you blame Russell Martin for that, Foxes fans?

    FT: Leicester 1-3 Peterborough

    Matt Piper
Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester

If you look at the stats without knowing the score, you'd think Leicester won today.

You can't just keep relying on those stats, how long can you go on referencing stats without getting results?

It was such an important one for the manager this afternoon, he was thinking how can he explain this one and how it comes good.

They've been battered by a team languishing at the bottom of League One, the stats don't mean a lot.

He can't keep relying on those stats.

  5. Salford still on toppublished at 17:18 BST 10 October

    League Two

Salford City remain one point clear at the top of the League Two table, thanks to their 2-0 win at Cheltenham Town, but victories for Barnet and Crewe help them keep pace with the leaders.

Gillingham are one of the day's big movers in the early-season standings - their 4-1 thumping of Rotherham sees them go up six places to fourth.

At the other end, conceding a late equaliser at York means that Northampton Town are into the bottom two.

Port Vale climb above them after beating Grimsby Town 1-0 at home.

What a day for Plymouth, injury-time winner against Wimbledon at lunchtime then sit back and watch their closest rivals fail to win.

Stockport came from behind against Barnsley to go third and Oxford are firmly in the mix with games in hand but just five points separate the top-eight in this wonderful division.

Robbie Savage needed just 90 minutes to get Peterborough out of the relegation zone with their win at Leicester, who are only one point clear of the drop zone after a third home defeat of the young season and are now below Doncaster, who picked up a handy win over Burton.

  7. Savage celebrates in glorious returnpublished at 17:15 BST 10 October

    Leicester City 1-3 Peterborough United

    Adam Whitty
BBC Final Score at King Power Stadium

After full-time, with almost all of the Leicester City fans out of the ground, Robbie Savage led every single player and member of the coaching team over to the corner, to the away fans, to celebrate.

They were all on their feet, Savage was exhuberant, passionately shouting and geeing up the supporters, it was quite a sight.

This was not just about a victory, just their second of the season - it was about how they played. Posh had just managed four goals before today all season, but scored three in a devastating first half, full of attacking intent.

For Leicester City, they are now in trouble. Russell Martin has not convinced fans he's the right man, with the right style of football, to lead them back up the leagues.

Many fans left early today - none from Peterborough did though.

In confirmed results, Doncaster and Stevenage earned 1-0 wins over Burton Albion and Wigan Athletic respectively, while the match between Bradford City and Leyton Orient ended goalless.

Mansfield and Stockport have claimed wins at home, while Reading thumped MK Dons 5-1 at Stadium MK.

    FT: Huddersfield 2-2 Sheff Wed

    John Pearson
Former Sheffield Wednesday forward on BBC Radio Sheffield

It's not been our best performance of the season and we didn't look like we were going to get back into it, but we did.

We did play with a lot more intensity towards the end, I think we need to take that last 15 minutes and turn it into 90 minutes.

We can't keep starting games like we did today.

It's all over. An absolutely bonkers finish to the Yorkshire showdown.

Joe Taylor and Derensili Sanches Fernandes goals after the break looked like they would ensure the points, despite Wednesday's late pressure yielding an own-goal from Ibane Bowat on 88 minutes.

However Liam Palmer earned a penalty in the eight minute of added time which Jamal Lowe dispatched to ensure the most dramatic of points.

    And breathe...

The feeling couldn't be more different for Luton manager Jack Wilshere and the travelling Hatters' support.

Goals from Kasey Palmer, Jamie Donley, Nahki Wells and Devante Cole see them snap a run of three games without a win.

Defenders Adam Senior and Zac Williams helped the Bees complete their comeback, with Tommy Leigh sent off for a studs-up challenge for Steve Evans' side.

Kabongo Tshimanga added gloss to the victory in stoppage time.
