  1. Spurs to complete first signing of deadline day?published at 17:27 GMT

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Tottenham are set to sign Hearts teenage striker James Wilson on an initial loan deal. Arsenal were in talks with Hearts over a move for the 18-year-old in a deal that was effectively a six-month trial.

But Wilson has agreed to join Spurs in a deal that includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

Didn't ever think I'd be sitting here willing Jorgen Strand Larsen's move to Crystal Palace to go through but here we are.

    Give us a signing, lads.

  3. 'Man City have made smart moves in this window'published at 17:19 GMT

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC iPlayer

The scenario now is Manchester City are chasing down Arsenal and the points gap is getting a little bit bigger because of yesterday's result, so you need those players who are ready to go and ready to play and know what the intensity of this Premier League is like.

It's been a smart move from the club in terms of getting Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo that are ready for action as soon as possible. They've slotted in really well which is testament to them. The club welcome new players very quickly.

  4. 'Malacia told he has to stay because he's useful cover'published at 17:14 GMT

I think Manchester United feel like they don't need to be panicked. What they have done is tell Tyrell Malacia that the can't leave.

He was hoping to revive his career somewhere like Turkey but because Patrick Dorgu got injured against Arsenal last week, which will maybe rule him out until April, I think they want Malacia around Manchester United, not because he's going to start games but he's useful cover.

I can't believe we've got less than two hours remaining of the January transfer window and we've not had a deal completed in the Premier League.

    Still time...

  7. Why do clubs submit deal sheets?published at 17:00 GMT

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Clubs submit a deal sheet when they know a deal is probably going to happen but it will go beyond the 7pm cut off.

What the Premier League have to be satisfied with once they've put the deal sheet in is that the deal is at a certain stage, at an advanced stage, that it looks like it's going to happen.

If a deal sheet is put in that looks rather frivolous, the Premier League are well within their rights to reject that and a deal will be over.

  8. 'Wolves have got to be ready for the summer and expectations of being in the Championship'published at 16:52 GMT

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Wolves have got to be sensible. It is a fine line for them to tread in this window, because they have to be ready for the summer and the expectation of being in the Championship next season.

You can't do it all in one window, you have to do it gradually and start now. They have to be careful but they are probably coming out quite well in this window.

  9. What can you learn from the Premier League's biggest mistakes?published at 16:45 GMT

    BBC Bitesize

Our friends over at BBC Bitesize have delved into what you can learn from the mistakes made by certain players in past transfer windows.

    • You won't like everything at school but don't do an Isak!
    • Keep your options open like Marc Guehi
    • Don't be like Odemwingie – plan ahead!
    • Give yourself a buffer to avoid being like Benjani
    • Don't cram like Liverpool

Sound advice if you ask me but have a read for yourself.

  10. Disasi having West Ham medical before agreement has been reachedpublished at 16:39 GMT

We're hearing that Axel Disasi is doing his medical with West Ham. It's a strange one as he's doing a medical without there being a full agreement between the two clubs yet.

That can happen, it's not uncommon on deadline day, so Disasi will be there trying to get the move through. But if something else comes along, that could get hijacked.

Maybe West Ham will get Disasi, maybe not.

  11. Will we finally see a completed deal?published at 16:34 GMT

    Charlotte Coates

    Hello!

Sam is going for a rest now after willing us to see a deal go through but alas, no luck.

Let's hope I manage to get one through for us.

Nottingham Forest have tabled a third offer for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels, worth up to £25million.

Sources have indicated that the offer is still short of the Scottish club’s valuation.

  13. 'Tonali to Arsenal was a non-starter'published at 16:25 GMT

Tonali claps the fansImage source, Getty Images

Newcastle United were very quick and very firm to insist that A) Sandro Tonali is not for sale and B) There had been no formal contact.

They were very quick to knock it down.

The optics around it, thinking of last summer, the Alexander Isak saga and his move to Liverpool, to lose Tonali would have been unimaginable.

It doesn't send the right tone or message, and certainly not on deadline day - it was a non-starter.

  14. 'Strand Larsen hasn't been the same since Newcastle turned his head'published at 16:21 GMT

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jurgen STrand LarsenImage source, Getty Images

Wolves fan Jason Guy, speaking on BBC iPlayer's Transfer Deadline Day Live: "Jorgen Strand Larsen this season, we have to be realistic, since Newcastle originally showed interest he had his head turned and he hasn't been the same player.

"He's only scored one league goal this season, so for Crystal Palace to show interest and get money which represents £19m profit for that player, we can't turn that down.

"We are going to get relegated, we have to be realistic. We have to take that money and invest it well."

  15. Huge surprise if Wolves get Adams deal done nowpublished at 16:16 GMT

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

    Che AdamsImage source, Getty Images

It looks like Wolves' deal for Che Adams is going to be very, very difficult to do now. It looks like they've run out of time to do it now.

It would be a huge surprise if he arrives at Molineux this evening.

  16. Latest from the Championshippublished at 16:12 GMT

    Paul MacDonald
    FootballTransfers.com

In terms of Championship spending, we're currently at £39.5m spent in this window with Birmingham being the most active.

Their acquisitions of Carlos Vicente and August Priske for a combined £13m has been the standout spend of the window.

This level is slightly above what most Championship clubs spend in January with the exception of January 2025, when £86.1m was the record outlay in winter.

Including business conducted in the summer that would take transfer spend in the Championship for 2025-26 to £349m, easily the record for spending in a single season, surpassing, unsurprisingly, 2024-25 which was £317m.

And that's, of course, before any additional business to be completed today.

  17. Stoke City to sign Chelsea winger Ato Ampahpublished at 16:07 GMT

Championship club Stoke City are closing in on a move worth up to £3m to sign Chelsea winger Ato Ampah.

The 19-year-old has four goals and six assists in 13 matches at various youth levels for the Blues this season.

The England Under-20 international has made one appearance for Chelsea's men's team and this will be his first full-time chance in senior football.
