Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to start skating ramps?
I guess, start with the very basics on the flat and get used to your board and don’t think about trying to kickflip and all that because that all comes and that’s what skateboarding is: progressing and learning new things. But start with the basics because everyone has to and that’s just the way it is and try and learn from books or people you know because that’s the best way. Experience it.

Do you have any tricks that bug you because you can’t nail them?
I’ve got an idea, like obviously you sometimes just have bad days when you can’t even kickflip for some reason, but I was thinking about a Miller flip which is kind of a twisty backflip. You don’t go straight up and vert it, but you put your hand down so it’s like a 360 handplant but it looks more like a backflip with your hand down. That’d be nice!

Would that be your ultimate trick?
No, I just think that that’d be the next thing because the handplant was the ultimate tick and now that’s another of the things I love doing so…

Any last words?
I think that what everyone says, or what everyone should say in my opinion, is ‘have fun’. You can skate alone and have fun or with friends you can just mess around and have a laugh and that’s what it’s there for. It’s not meant to be there to try and get sponsored or to try and make money out of it, it was never like that at the start and isn’t meant to be like that now. That’s just corporate meddling.

Should more people wear sleeveless t-shirts?
[Laughs] I dunno, that’s just bringing back the old style I guess. You can do what you want.

Cheers, Ricky
That’s alright.
