Yeah, it was, but not any more expensive than any other pro board. The board was 'bout 50-odd pounds which I find stupid really but I wanted to get that shape to try it out. But Im going to be buying from abroad now Ive decided!
You skate ramps really well, have you been riding skateparks long?
No, it was a kind of new thing last year and I guess skating vert was the first thing and from there, I dunno, it was gnarly as hell so I just kept skating that way: the bigger the better!
Do you like riding vert then?
Yeah, thats the best, man! Ysee the weightlessness coming out of the top? Its brilliant.
How high can you get?
I can get higher than the fence thats usually on the top of the ramp, so I can get about four feet out of the top. That was last year though so [laughs] well see about this year when the summer comes!
Do you like to skate street as well, though?
Oh yeah. I just: I dont skate street, I skate style is a good quote from Steve Cabillaro. I just love it. Ill skate anything: if theres an old bit of wood against a wall then [laughs] Gods put it there for a purpose.
Do you find that such a big board makes it harder to ride street or do more tech moves?
Nah, its much easier I think: the control you have [is way better]. Ysee a kickflip? A kickflips all about timing: you flip the board and wait for the board to come back round. With this theres a black hole that comes back round and you cant miss it so I can tray flip, I can double flip, I can do all the things most new school skaters can do so theres no difference.
