She believes!!

One of the cutest things has hapened in my wee girls life ~ she realises who Santa is and it is just so cute!! She keeps talking about him and how he's coming to our house and how she is going to give him spag bol for tea ~ no mince pies here!! We even have to leave a light on so he can find the house! Kids don't you just love them?
At times I long for five minutes peace but seeing them developing right in front of your eyes is just the most amazing thing ever. She is only two but is so on the ball. Being a full time mum can be such hard work and you can feel very unappreciated at times but it is all so worth it.
I am looking so forward to Christmas morning and seeing her wee face light up. Her wee brother is probably a bit too wee to realise whats going on but you never know eh? This is the first Christmas where we have actually managed to get the kids some decent presents ~ I know thats not whats important about Christmas but the giving adds to it. We are having the family down for Christmas lunch so the house will be bursting at the seams and I can't wait!! I think I might be more excited than the kids.
The icing on the cake would be some snow. I only really remember one really snowy winter here but I don't think the island has ever looked so beautiful. We went for a walk round the Castle Grounds in Stornoway and the branhes of the trees were heavy with snow ~ it was just breathtaking. I have photo's of it that I could show you all but I haven't got a scooby how to put photos onto this thing yet!!
Theres one other bonus about the wee one believing in Santa to ~ I have told her all about the little elf thats sits up on the chimney and tells Santa if she and her brother have been a good little girl and boy.......... Is that really scroogely of me????

Oh the innocence of children - my one is 6 and still believes - its lovely - in our old house as part of the burglar alarm there were sensor lights in each room - we told her they were connected to Santa's camera and he could see if she was naughty - worked a treat! though now we are on Mull no such need of burglar alarms - we need to be a bit more inventive! It really is hard work being a Mum - no-one quite prepares you for it - some days you just feel part of the furniture but you just plod on and hope they turn out half decent folk as adults - that's all you can do - have a wonderful Christmas and fingers crossed for snow!

Hello Island Life The Help Guide has handy tips on how to add photos to a post. You'll see the link in the left hand side of the site or I've copied it here: www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/islandblogging/helpguide.shtml#adding

Most of us go through the 'how-the-h**l-do-I-post- photos' bit. I can see your children would be a bit young to help in this department just yet! But give them a few years...

Enjoy your children at that age, everybody. They say that life gets easier for you as they get older, but it doesnt. My boys are 26 and 24 and I still worry about them, for example, what ladies of dubious virtue they are getting mixed up with. Now that's a problem we didnt have when they were 2. I remember the second Christmas well. We were skint so, having bought some toys with batteries, we wrapped the batteries up separately to make thinks look better. "Look Daddy, Santa's brought me a battery", "Look, another battery", "What have you got?" "A battery". Covering an empty box in coloured paper doesn't work. After they've shaken it 20 times and nothing comes out, they see through it.

Its simply delightful there are still children who believe!! You are building traditions for your family! Congratulations. When our youngest was at that age where disillusionment all too often takes place, I threatened his older siblings with everything short of murder if they dared to spoil the magic of Santa.

Aw, the beauty of Christmas through the eyes of a child! What a blessing. We are enjoying that too with our 7 year old. It's doubly nice because it can get kind of blue around here during the Holiday Season thinking of days and folks gone by.
