"I wonder what would have happened..." I'll tell you what'll happen...you will be brought before the great white throne on the day of judgement and sent to the other place at once. Let children play on the saabbath??? The very idea!

Not sure why you have moved to Harris - all you do is complain in every single post. If you don't like things shut on a Sunday, the price of petrol, the weather etc etc, why not just move away?

I am from here iain robertson from Lewis and I am quite sure the majority of locals agree with what I am saying but unfortunately will not stand up against the church because that is the root of the majority of sunday issues. I also love a good gale the windier the better infact - it helps blow the cobwebs away! And the prices here are ridiculous wether you are from here or not. Prices go up but unfortunately wages don't reflect this. If all you think I do is complain no-one is forcing you to read them....

To be fair to the church, me who..., the day of rest idea probably goes back to pre-Christian times when our cave-man friends spent 6 days gathering nuts and berries, spearing mammoths and dragging women by the hair (and still do in parts of Glasgow) and felt they deserved a day of rest. And I sympathise with them. I work like a maniac for 6 days a week and would just love to enjoy one day in 7 without being pestered by double-glaing salesmen, ice-cream van chimes, drunks singing and being sick on my doorstep and people phoning to say I've won a free holiday in Florida. When I come to live in Lewis, I shall expect to enjoy just one day a week enjoying the scenery, trying to stay upright in gales and fraternising with the sheep without ANYBODY invading my space on the grounds that that "I'm only doing my (crummy little) job, sir" otherwise I shall beat him to a red sticky pulp. Now thats what I call working on a Sunday. (Rant over)

Still cant see its Christian to ban people from a behaviour just because it's a Sunday; isn't that what the Taleban does? I cant see anything wrong with a healthy, happy family life which is what having kids at the park is about. Burt no, fundamentalist Christians insist on controlling the behaviour of those who don't share their views. A little bit bit of liberal Christianity would be great.

I still can't follow why the Church can impose their views on those who don't agree with them. I thought Christians were meant to be tolerant. Going to a park as a family is hardly the work of the devil. Or are we not meant to get exercise on a Sunday?
