The worlds getting smaller

Thanks for previous comments I did not expect that many -yes your right it's linked to a dell computer. Sticking with the weather it's almost like summer today. I took the dog for a walk to a hill above Sandwick. It was so clear you could see the island of Foula (which looks a bit black and foreboding in the distance). It's great to get outside for walks again.
The dog got fed up near the top and headed back to the car so I still have not got to see the place where a Mosquito crashed. Must have been some size of bug to have named a hilltop after it.
The view from my window is great today the ferry has just left for Aberdeen and is sailing in flat calm waters for once. The sky is clear and light as we head toward the 24 hours of daylight in the summer.
My family have left for the mainland and Norway so I'm getting on with the exciting things in life like painting the hall -great fun!
I just been trying to practice the "House of the Rising Sun" on the guitar, the dogs gone to sleep, think it's trying to tell me something.

The last replies to my previous blog mentioned a whole range of ideas about what islands look like. What really struck the cord with me was that Ronas Hill and other sites on Shetland look like food.
So I've been thinking about nice foody links such as Fetlar Fudge, Bressay Broth and Foula Fishcakes. I'll have to stop this now as it's getting sad.
There's a big ship /boat /yacht in Lerwick harbour which has lots of masts and ropes, and it looks like something out of the Onedin Line (sorry old TV programme for those of a younger persuasion). Seems also to have decanted lots of folk as the town seemed busier than usual.
On a sadder note let's hope the Norwegian families whose sons and fathers died in the North sea last week found some comfort in their trip to the islands.
That's enough from me for just now (now you see why I'm called sad_dell), I'm off with the dog to Quendale beach, the wind appears to be coming from the North so it should be sheltered. It's a fantastic beach for those who have not been to it, almost looks like a custard which has been toasted under the grill!
