Wild Night in Shetland

No I'm not speaking about the Shetland nightlife, which can be quite good. We had winds in excess of 100mph last night which meant things were a bit worrying for a while. It's calmed down now looking out from my window across the voe to the island of Bressay it seems very pleasant.

Hopefully this is the final throw from a long, dark and wet wnter.

Hello sad_dell, welcome to Island Blogging!

Not likely, the last dark, windy & stormy night, I fear. Welcome to the land of blogs.

If you put sad dell together you get a place in Kintyre. Which I think should be regarded as an island - it certainly feels like one by the time you get down to the end.

Ruthodanort from Unst

According to legend Kintyre was a de jure island in viking times. Some king suggested to some jarl that he could have every piece of land he could get round in his ship. Smart jarl had himself dragged from West Loch Tarbet to East Loch Tarbet overland whilst sitting at the helm of his dragon ship. Bingo Isle of Kintyre!

Well that explains it...
